  11. While some of you claim you love your Elite and are happy with the
  12. performance you get, the majority here seems to be less than pleased.
  13. I count myself among the latter. I am consistantly getting lower
  14. connect rates, wide splits in the async tx/rx rates, and long
  15. pauses while the modem thinks about how it is going to annoy me more.
  16. This comparison is done against a Supra 288, a Microcom Deskporte,
  17. and a cheapy, no frills $129.00 throw away v.34 I have used.

  19. I would have returned it, had I not been in hope of software that
  20. would fix things. But it's too late now. I am stuck with an expensive,
  21. NOW underpowered, and poorly performing unit that STILL has no Macintosh
  22. software as the 1496 has. I Was pretty satisified with the 1496. That
  23. and the hype from Zyxel about the powerful 2864 led me to this sad state.

  25. Now, when asked about modems, I say buy anything, ANYTHING but a Zyxel.

  27. P.S. I even tried the new 1.10 flash update. Well, at least the flasher
  28. works nice. The modem did not improve.
