- While some of you claim you love your Elite and are happy with the
- performance you get, the majority here seems to be less than pleased.
- I count myself among the latter. I am consistantly getting lower
- connect rates, wide splits in the async tx/rx rates, and long
- pauses while the modem thinks about how it is going to annoy me more.
- This comparison is done against a Supra 288, a Microcom Deskporte,
- and a cheapy, no frills $129.00 throw away v.34 I have used.
-
- I would have returned it, had I not been in hope of software that
- would fix things. But it's too late now. I am stuck with an expensive,
- NOW underpowered, and poorly performing unit that STILL has no Macintosh
- software as the 1496 has. I Was pretty satisified with the 1496. That
- and the hype from Zyxel about the powerful 2864 led me to this sad state.
-
- Now, when asked about modems, I say buy anything, ANYTHING but a Zyxel.
-
- P.S. I even tried the new 1.10 flash update. Well, at least the flasher
- works nice. The modem did not improve.
